What is a sub-agent?

Also called: sub agent travel · subagent

Definition

A sub-agent is a travel agent that books through another, larger agency or wholesaler rather than directly with suppliers. The main agent provides inventory, prices, credit and often a branded portal; the sub-agent sells to travellers and adds its own markup.

Managing a sub-agent network

  • Separate logins, prices and credit limits per sub-agent.
  • Commission or markup rules down each level of the hierarchy.
  • White-label storefronts so each sub-agent sells under its own brand.
  • Statements and settlements per sub-agent.

Example

A master agent in Dubai runs 150 sub-agents across the GCC, each with its own credit limit and branded booking site powered by the master agent’s portal.
