What is travel inventory management?

Also called: travel inventory management system · hotel inventory management

Definition

Travel inventory management is the control of the rooms, seats, tours and services a travel company owns or has contracted: their rates, seasons, allotments and availability, and how they are distributed to each sales channel. An inventory system holds this once and keeps every channel in sync.

What an inventory system centralises

  • Contracted products of every type — hotels, transfers, tours, packages.
  • Rates, seasons, supplements and offers.
  • Allotments, free sale and stop sale.
  • Channel- and partner-specific pricing.
  • Distribution to the B2B portal, B2C site, sales team and outbound APIs.

Example

A wholesaler loads its contracted Dubai hotels once. The same rates feed its B2B portal, its XML API to partner OTAs and its sales team’s quotes, each with its own markup.

How TraveleXe handles travel inventory management
