What is a travel voucher?

Also called: hotel voucher · service voucher

Definition

A travel voucher is the document that confirms a traveller has paid for a service — a hotel stay, transfer or tour — and tells the supplier what to provide. The traveller presents it on arrival; it includes the booking reference, service details, dates and the supplier’s contact information.

What a voucher should contain

  • Booking and supplier confirmation references.
  • Guest names, dates, service and room or vehicle type.
  • Meal plan, inclusions and special requests.
  • Supplier address and emergency contact numbers.

Example

After booking a hotel through a B2B portal, an agent downloads the voucher and sends it to the traveller, who shows it at the hotel’s reception.
